Onfido Studio is a tool for building, managing, and deploying identity verification journeys. Build flows visually using our no-code Studio Builder tool, in a format similar to flow charts or process diagrams.
The Canvas
The canvas is an infinite grid for you to build your flows on. There are a few key concepts to understand to get up and running with your first flow.
- The Start task is the beginning of your customer's journey.
- Each task represents a discrete step in the verification journey. Add tasks by using the "Add" menu in the top left of the screen, or by selecting a task on the canvas, and clicking the (+) button that appears below it.
There are different types of tasks, indicated by their icon and color.- Interactive tasks require user input and can be things like filling in a form, taking a photo of a document, or taking a selfie.
- Verifications & Reports perform a job in the background based on the data from the interactive tasks. This could be a Document report, Proof of Address report, Facial similarity report, and many more. The results of these reports can be used in conditional logic, and will display in full on the result page.
- Conditions are rules or gates that can guide a user down one branch of a flow to a particular result. Rules can be set based on any of the outputs of tasks above it in the flow. The pictured example checks if the Result of the Identity Report is Clear, and passes the user if it is, otherwise the user is sent down the Fail route. See our guide to conditions for more.
- Result tasks are the end of a flow. You can use these to automate decisions, or escalate to humans for review. The three result tasks we have are Approve, Decline, and Review. These results are visibly marked in the Results list in your dashboard when a user completes a flow.
- Connectors indicate what happens after the current step completes. The flow runs in the order defined by the arrows beginning at the Start task, and each step will wait to complete before running the following step. The dot on top of a task is the input for that task, and the dot on the bottom is the output. Drag from one task's output to another task's input to connect them.
- The Properties Panel on the right of the screen shows information and configuration options for the task you have currently selected. You can rename your tasks to make your flows easier to read and understand, or configure certain reports or verifications to suit your needs.
